Roles and Responsibilities

This is an important topic when you purchase your new website.  Below is a list of responsibilities between designers and clients.

Web Designer/Consultant Responsibilities

  1. Front end design – This is the look and feel of your site.
  2. Creating or editing images and graphics for website use
  3. Coding website using HTML, CSS, HTML5, CSS3, PHP code
  4. Backend Programing – This is for custom and complex functionality.  For complex web programing I usually hire a web developer.  Some of the simple backend coding can be resolved through affordable plugins.
  5. Converting your videos for the web
  6. Updating SEO information with the information supplied by the client and submitting completed site to search engines
  7. Posting completed site to internet server
  8. Integrating clients domain with content on the web
  9. Training client on how to update and manage their own site
  10. Maintaining website(when maintenance plan is purchased)

Client responsibilities

  1. Submitting Logo/branding information to designer
  2. Submitting all copy for their site
  3. Submitting the purpose for their site
    (attracting more customers, e-commerce, giving existing customers better service, online brochure ect…)
  4. Submitting legally purchased images they would like to use for their site (Find affordable images and videos at www.istockphoto.com)

In addition, communication and planning is the key to creating a successful website.  Before you contact a designer you should have everything planned out and written up.  This will avoid any delays to the process.  I will be uploading a form that will talk you through a step by step process that will make creating your website easier.
